Radiotopia’s “Song Exploder” launches its Spanish language spin-off “Canción Exploder”. | Daily News Podcast

Why let a good podcast premise be tied down by language? That’s what many podcast producers are saying as more and more shows are translated from English into other languages to reach new audiences in the United States and around the world. PRX’s Radiotopia is doing just that by partnering with Adonde Media to adapt its popular Song Exploder series to the Spanish version of Canción Exploder.

Created by Hrishikesh Hirway, Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians take their songs apart and, piece by piece, tell how they were made. The series featured some of the world’s biggest artists – Fleetwood Mac, U2, Billie Eilish, Solange, Metallica, The Roots, Dua Lipa, and more – breaking down the sounds and ideas that went into their writing and recording. .

The newly minted Canción Exploder will follow a similar path, featuring an array of chart-topping Latin music artists in its first season. Guests will include Nathy Peluso, Jorge Drexler, Mon Laferte, Silvana Estrada, José Gonzalez, iLe & Adrian Quesada and Ibeyi. The first episode presents the group Bomba Estéreo breaking down their song “Deja” from their critically acclaimed album of the same name.

Adonde Media Founder and CEO Martina Castro is the host and co-executive producer of Canción Exploder.

“The first season of Canción Exploder is a testament to the diversity of Latin music today as we speak with artists who write music in multiple languages, call home to many different countries, and tell their stories in a beautiful variety of languages. ‘accents,’ Castro said. “It also showcases the power of what ‘Song Exploder’ does so well, immersing you in the process and art of songwriting, and thereby revealing something essential and true about the artist telling the story. his story in his own words.”

Hirway will also serve as executive producer of the Spanish version of his show.

“The world of Latin music is huge, spanning so many countries and genres, and the audience for all of this music is vast. A few years ago I started to wonder if it would be possible to bring ‘ Song Exploder’ and its stories of creativity to this audience,” Hirway said. “I didn’t know much about Spanish-language podcasts, but I knew Martina Castro was a great host, producer, and ambassador, so I asked her if she would like to work with me to realize this daydream.”

Now a reality, new episodes of Canción Exploder will be released every two weeks, from Wednesday to October 26.
