A casting says podcasters looking to launch a spin-off show will be able to do so at no cost. The company says it gives users the option to add a new show to their account at no additional cost. In a blog post, Acast says it also now helps shows capitalize on merchandise sales with the ability to add a store link to their Acast podcast website. It can be linked to any website, including merchandise stores and Amazon affiliate pages, it says. Acast has also made another data point available to its users. It added the ability to see unique listeners at the episode level in addition to the show level.

AdLarge took over sales duties for the Don’t Keep Your Day Job podcast. Hosted and created by best-selling author Cathy Heller, the show speaks directly to women looking to find true purpose in life and get paid to do what they love to do. Weekly episodes include conversations with top celebrities and entrepreneurs such as actors Matthew McConaughey, Rob Lowe and Jenna Fischer, as well as authors Malcolm Gladwell and Seth Godin, and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. “I’m so excited to work with AdLarge’s team of experts,” said Heller. “I often remind my audience that life is too short to build someone else’s dream. This is just another example of building my true purpose and happiness. The series joins AdLarge’s growing list of female-focused podcasts.

…The Kingdom Podcast Network took over the scripted podcast written and directed by the actress Inanna Sarkis. Deadline reports that Sarkis will also star in the six-episode podcast titled Zaya. The series is about a Middle Eastern college student living in Brooklyn whose life is turned upside down when her older brother is kidnapped in front of her. “Inanna is such a talent. We’re thrilled to partner with her on her podcast debut and can’t wait to share it with listeners,” VP of Realm Marie Assadullahi, said. Zaya is set to debut on September 15.

HBO Max has rolled out a succession of podcasts over the past few years as it has not only turned to audio to promote its TV shows, but to tell other stories as well. That effort could face cost pressures, as The Wall Street Journal reports that HBO is laying off about 14% of its workforce, mostly on its HBO Max streaming service. The cuts come after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged last month. The Journal reports that the layoffs hit the HBO Max units in charge of reality shows and documentaries.

digital newt says iHeartPodcast Network Australia of ARN, LiSTNR (SCA) and Audioboom were the top three publishers in Australia in July. It was the same top three as in June. The top three podcasts were also the same, including Hamish & Andy, Casefile True Crime and The Kyle & Jackie O Show. This month, Triton Digital also introduced a Trade Representation Ranking in Australia.
