LGBT Student Services Hold ‘Welcome Home’ BBQ for Students and Their Allies | New

LMU LGBT Student Services (LGBTSS) kicked off Labor Day Weekend 2021 with a BBQ on O’Malley Grass on Friday, September 3. Showcasing LGBTQ + student organizations and resources, the event welcomed new and old Lions to Bluff.

The students were greeted with music, bubbles and conversations. Representatives from various LGBTQ + student organizations gathered tables around the grass, inviting students to learn more about their causes.

Each table featured a different organization on campus that serves as a resource for the LGBTQ + community. Student Psychological Services (SPS), the William H. Hannon Library, and other campus resources had representatives who further explained their groups and ways to get involved.

The table set up in the name of the William H. Hannon Library allowed students to win prizes via a game of roulette, contributing to the positive atmosphere of the event. The SPS Wellness Educator Table provided brochures educating students about the importance of mental health and the availability of mental health resources on campus.

The event provided free food and drink as the students mingled and noted the resources available to them.

Visit the LGTSS website to learn more about LMU’s LGBTQ + organizations, spaces and resources. Future events will also be shared on their LEO page.
