In this role, she oversaw a team of 18 people and a portfolio of community support programs that included HIV prevention, family permanence, economic justice initiatives, immigration, health and mental health. transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC), and mental health services. , in addition to maintaining a personal workload of family counseling clients. In her new role, Ms. Mikhail will be responsible for making Time Out Youth a strong and visible organization dedicated to ending the isolation of LGBTQ + youth. Many of the young people that TOY serves are BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) and / or queer, trans and non-binary who face marginalization and discrimination on multiple fronts. Ms. Mikhail will be responsible for making strategic, operational, administrative and financial decisions for the organization while ensuring long-term sustainability through growth and program diversification.
Time Out Youth, founded in 1991, offers programs and services ranging from focus groups and emergency housing assistance to one-on-one counseling to more than 70 LGBTQ youth each year. TOY is an integral part of the growing and diverse LGBTQ + community in Charlotte and the surrounding area. TOY is supported by a 19-person board of directors and employs nine full-time and part-time staff. Its operating budget is just under $ 1 million.
