Ed Sheeran reveals he thought he was ‘a bit gay’ as a child

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran recently revealed in an interview that he thought he was “a bit gay” as a child. The Form of you The hitmaker has already addressed his sexuality several times on his social media, stating that he is straight.

Award-winning musician Ed Sheeran was a guest on the ManManMan podcast in October which explores male sexuality. Sheeran and the three podcast hosts discussed his time in Amsterdam and his new album Equals.

The 30-year-old artist was asked if becoming a father changed his masculinity. He replied: “overwhelmingly”.

“Either way, I’m not like an overly masculine person. I have a definite feminine side to the point that, like when I was a child, I thought I was a little gay. “

“I definitely have a big feminine side. I love musical theater, I love pop music, I love Britney Spears. My masculine side probably stops drinking beer and watching football.

“I like a nice car, but I’m not like a car guy.”


Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, welcomed their baby daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in August 2020. Speaking of being a father, he mentioned that getting older made him realize that kids aren’t a given.

“Lots of my friends struggled with that, we struggled with that a bit. I would say if you think about it, it’s … Don’t wait too long basically.

Sheeran opened up about his daughter’s unique name in another interview, saying he realized some people might find it quite strange.

“But my wife’s name is Cherry, and she’s the only Cherry I’ve ever met and I think she’s the only Cherry she’s ever met and I like that.” In my class at school there were probably more Eds.

The Grammy Award-winning singer has released his new album Equals (=) on Friday, October 29. The themes of the 14-track album follow Ed Sheeran as a father, losing a friend, and trying to balance work and married life.

Taking to Instagram, he shared that Equals is his favorite album he’s ever made.

“I’m so proud of it. Thanks to all the great people who worked on this with me. To the fans, I hope you like it as much as I do, it’s been a long journey up to this point.
