Audacy: Amazon Music and Wondery and award-winning podcast studio Pineapple Street team up for first-ever Slate deal


Amazon Music and Wondery have struck a deal with prestigious podcast studio Pineapple Street Studios, an Audacy company, creator of notable hits such as Richard Simmons Missing, wind of change, Welcome to your fantasyand 70 Over 70. As part of the deal, Amazon Music and Wondery will co-produce at least four new projects with Pineapple Street Studios.

It’s the first of its kind deal for Amazon Music and Wondery, and it follows the company’s successful collaboration with Pineapple Street on the critically acclaimed storytelling series. 9/12 from creator Dan Taberski, which landed on The New York Times “10 Best Podcasts of 2021” and was named “Podcast of the Year” by Time and Atlantic. Since 2016, Pineapple Street has been creating premium, high-quality podcast content, especially with investigative miniseries like Taberski’s. Running COPS and The Catch and Kill Podcast with Ronan Farrow.

The deal kicks off with two groundbreaking new narrative podcast series: an investigative series from journalist Evan Ratliff, and will be wilda series from journalists Andrea Bernstein and Ilya Marritz, hosts of the award-winning podcast Trump, Inc., on the historical events leading up to the uprising at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

will be wild is an eight-episode series by Bernstein and Marritz detailing the events leading up to the uprising at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 and examines ongoing efforts to combat the undemocratic forces that have been unleashed.

This announcement follows the success of shows like SmartLess hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, Suspectand Harsh Reality: The Miriam Rivera Story. Wondery shows accounted for seven of the top 10 new shows of 2021, according to Podtrac. In addition to a plethora of notable original shows created by the premium podcast studio, Wondery has also recently collaborated with top creators including leading family podcast companies Tinkercast and Gen-Z Media.
