Media director Sol Trujillo and broadcast journalist Rick Sanchez are teaming up to launch Agua Media, a podcast network targeting the Latino market. It is launched in partnership with Workhouse Media. Led by Paul Anderson, Workhouse is a top talent, content management and audio production company; he helped launch Shondaland Audio and the Dan Patrick Podcast Network. Agua is also launching an alliance with L’Attitude. Co-founded by Trujillo and Gary Acosta, L’Attitude finances Latino entrepreneurs.

Agua Media debuts with five shows in its portfolio.

  • Underestimated – A five-part fictional series about gamer Melinda Gutierrez, who beat all odds to rise to the top of the gaming world
  • Los Heebie Jeebees – A tale of supernatural phenomena where true crime and horror come to life in the dark corners of Mexico hosted by author and activist Julissa Arce
  • You are amazing! – A podcast that features ambitious success stories, co-produced by Agua CCO and former Oprah Winfrey executive producer Corny Koehl
  • Campeones – The true stories of Latin sports legends, from Valenzuela to Canelo to Ronaldo
  • The Rick Sanchez Attitude! – Sanchez shares a broader perspective on the trends and events the Latino community has been waiting to hear

This isn’t the first pairing for Sanchez and Trujillo, who were part of the founding group of primary care provider, Cano Health, which hit a $4.4 billion valuation.

“American Latinos and the new American mainstream are once again reshaping the melting pot we call America,” Trujillo said. “Their total economic output is $2.7 trillion annually, up from $1.7 trillion in 2010. This community is starting businesses at a faster rate than any other group.”

Sanchez added: “With a common age of 11, compared to Anglo-Americans whose common age is 58, this group is put off by a lot of the content because they don’t understand who they are. Agua’s mission is to present stories through a broader perspective, in tune with the needs of this vast and young dominant economic force.
